Money is a very important factor when preparing for retirement. Many of today’s retirees go back to work because they are either bored in doing nothing on their home, or yearning to go back to work because of financial matters. Some time ago, retirees would not consider going back to work. These days more and more retirees make most of their retirement years by having retirement jobs. If you are a retiree and want to go back to the work force the best place to look for a retirees job is your previous employer. Ask your previous employer if they have any sort of part time retirement job that they could give you. Recent studies show that most of employers allow their older employees to decrease their working hours more willingly than allow them to take full retirement. More and more employers these days are interested in hiring retirees because of their experiences and expertise. There are even some employers that set up atypical recruitment courses for retirement jobs to catch the attention of the retirees. Making some of them consider taking the retirement jobs.

More and more retirees choose to integrate retirement jobs in their retirement. More and more employers are hiring individuals who want to go out of retirement, thus, creating more and more part time jobs for retirees.

How to use the Law of Attraction to Attract More Customers and Grow Your Business

With the explosive popularity of the book and movie The Secret, many people are being exposed to something called The Law of Attraction. You may be asking yourself, “What exactly is The Law of Attraction, and how it can it help me in my business?”

A definition of the Law of Attraction
First, here’s the definition provided by Abraham through Esther Hicks: “The Law of Attraction says: That which is like unto itself is drawn.” In other words, like attracts like. This is not a new concept, nor a secret. For example, Matthew 9:29 says, “It is done unto you as you believe.” Scientists working in Quantum Physics have discovered that everything in our Universe sends out vibrations of a certain frequency. They have found that we are essentially vibrational beings in a vibrational environment. The Law of Attraction says that all vibrations are drawn to other vibrations of the same frequency.

Physicists have learned that our thoughts are vibrations too. As thinking beings, we are emitting certain vibrations all the time. At any given moment we may be emitting thoughts of happiness, sadness, frustration, joy, etc. Every thought has its own frequency. So whether we like it or not, we are always emitting some type of vibration all the time, attracting the same frequency back to us.

What you focus on expands
If you are thinking about the lack of money, a scarcity of clients or frustration with your work, you will attract more of the same. Conversely, if you are thinking about abundance or success in your business, you will also attract more of the same. Doesn’t it make sense to spend more time focusing on things you want to attract—such as new clients, more opportunities or more money—rather than focusing on and complaining about those you don’t want?

Change your focus; change your business; change your life
In our society, sometimes we are conditioned to focus on lack, scarcity, things we don’t want and problems we want to fix. Many adults have spent their lifetimes complaining about their current situation and building negative belief systems. To some, it may sound odd or foreign to turn this around and focus on what you DO want. One of the techniques I use is to keep a “Dream Board” in my office. I actually have two. One is a large color print with a collage of stock library photos of things I want to attract into my life. The other is a digital photo frame with more photos and slides with “I am” statements. For example, one of my I am statements is this: “I am attracting the right people into my business.” You can also write these statements down on 3 x 5 index cards and carry them with you. Take them out and read them to yourself several times a day.
An important part of this process is to FEEL the essence of your I am statement while visualizing what you want. Find a way to dig into your emotions and feel how you would if you already have what you wanted. For example, if you are in the network marketing business and you wanted a big organization with thousands of distributors, how would it feel to be leading, coaching and training your team? How would you feel when one of your leaders is promoted, or when a new distributor sponsors his or her first distributor?

Another idea is to send a dream card to yourself. Find a photo of something you really want —for example, your dream home—write your I am statements inside the card along with a vivid, passionate description of how you will feel when you are enjoying your dream home.

Your emotions are your guides
Your emotions are your guides for letting you know whether you’re vibrating in harmony with who you really are and what you want. When you feel bad, overwhelmed or frustrated, your emotions are telling you that you need to change your focus. There are a number of ways to do this. I recommend stating to yourself what you really do want. Then focus on that. Make a determined effort to catch yourself and deliberately change your thinking. This may be a challenge sometimes, so you may have to bring up a good feeling memory first. For example, I’ll remember something funny that my puppy did, and that memory will shift my emotion slightly and then it’s easier to make the deliberate change in my focus.

Express your appreciation
One way to start feeling good so you can focus on what you want is to make a list of everything you appreciate in your business right now. Start somewhere, no matter how small. For example, think of one customer you appreciate, one job or project that gave you satisfaction, or one client who gave you a nice referral or testimonial. Then send a heartfelt card of appreciation.

When you follow these recommendations you’ll be using the Law of Attraction to your advantage. Your business success will be a reflection of your new positive and deliberate creation. Be consistent and practice every day because this is an on-going lifelong process.

Searching for Jobs for Seniors

Now that you know what career you want to pursue and have your resume updated along with a generic cover letter, you are ready for the next step - searching for jobs for retirees. There are many search sites available to you for this effort. Most of them are not specific to seniors but I still found most of them to be very helpful.

Each of the sites provides you with items to choose from, including keywords, location, and categories of industries. Of course, the better you define your area, the more focused you can be on choosing the job that might be right for you. Once you find a specific job that you may be interested in, you usually have the ability to click on it and get full details on it. If interested at that time, you can then click on the Apply button.

When you get to the application screen, most of the search sites have the same basic format. They will usually allow you to post your existing resume utilizing your browser. Once you do this, you will need to look over the text since many times the wrapping isn't exactly what you want in the field they provide. What I did to handle this problem was to create a template. The first time I posted my resume, I fixed it to fit the field they provided, then I copied and pasted the end result to a separate file that I labeled as my posting resume file and then used that version for all future postings. Most of the time this worked like a charm.

The cover letter section of the application does vary from application to application. I believe that the cover letter is a very important part of what you submit to the recruiter for a couple of reasons. First of all, it is usually the first thing the recruiter sees and it should contain the reasons why this job is a perfect fit for both you and the company. You should tweak your generic cover letter to fit the specific job you are addressing at the time. Now, from time to time, I also found that the cover letter is not always asked for so if you have a point you need to make, you may have to find another way of doing that.

Now we get to the search engines themselves. Here are a few of the sites that are available to you that are specific to jobs for retirees.

Workforce50.com - This site is specific for jobs for seniors. It provides a good deal of useful information for seniors. You can also search by specific states for jobs in your area where the recruiter is targeting seniors for jobs. One note here is that this listing by state is rather short right now due to the financial climate, but hopefully this will improve shortly.
Beyond.com - This site targets specific community niches
Retirementjobs.com - - Here's another site supported by age friendly employers
Dinosaur-exchange.com - This is an international site that also assists in finding jobs for seniors

Here are a few of the other sites that are not specifically related to jobs for seniors but contain the bulk of what is available out there in the job market.

I have one final point to make now. As you submit for various jobs, make sure you save or print the application, as well as, the cover letter if something specific was stated for this job, so that when the recruiter calls, you will have the information at hand. Lastly, it ensures you do not duplicate a submittal for the same job and also it is good to have as documentation if you are receiving unemployment compensation.

Jobs for Seniors: The Initial Telephone Interview

Now that you have a fantastic resume and an even better cover letter prepared,(pat yourself on the back for this achievement), and have submitted them to potential jobs for seniors employers through your job search engines, it will not be long before you get your initial phone interview. Personally, I think this is the fun time of the job searching process. You will receive a call usually from the company recruiter or someone acting in that capacity whose role is to perform an initial screening of candidates. The purpose of this screening is to find the best candidates out of all the interviews that appear to best fit the job description and company profiles and who are very interested in landing the job. If all goes well here, he/she will then probably schedule a face-to-face meeting with you next with the employer/recruiter. We touched on the job interview process in a previous article but let's go a little deeper in your preparation for this. Listed below are some general guidelines as to what to expect in the interview, as well as, how to handle the phone interview for retirees job.

Generally Be Prepared

The great thing about the initial interview being on the phone is that it gives you a chance to lay out all the pertinent documents in front of you such as your resume, company description, your tailored cover letter, the job description, and perhaps some notes on things you will want to mention in the interview. Obviously, to be prepared, you should do some research on the company so that you will not be ignorant of what the company does. For example you would not want to slip and say at some point you could be a great asset to their production of widgets when they are a health organization. I know this sounds ridiculous but when you might have multiple interviews for retiree jobs going on, it is easy to be confused. I know, I've been there before myself but I'll save you the details on my screw up.

Have a Great Demeanor

Basically, what I mean here is that you need to come across as a good communicator.

You need to be self-confident but don't appear overconfident. Hopefully, your great preparation will help you with this.
You need to be concise with your points so as to not ramble on with your answers to questions. This is a very important point and we need to discuss this one a little further. Most likely the recruiter is going to ask you upfront to tell him/her about yourself. This does not mean open the flood gates and tell your life story. They don't care if you won a spelling bee contest in the 6th grade! You will need to walk a fine line here to give them enough but not too much information. You need to have a positive attitude and not allow fear or ego to get the best of you, sometimes a major problem with seniors looking for jobs.
Be honest and if asked if you have a specific attribute or skill and the answer is no, tell them so. Perhaps, there is another skill you do have that will work instead

Be Ready for Many Questions

Be ready to respond to the many questions that may be asked of you especially one that will surely be mentioned about what motivates you. We discussed this earlier in one of my previous articles: 'What happens when you get that call from a recruiter'

You never expected to be looking up jobs for retirees. But your retirement dreams have turned into a nightmare. Your retirement investment funds have been hit hard with the collapse of the economy. Now there's a sickening feeling every morning when you wake up. "Will I be able to keep up with the cost of living?" You're not expecting to buy a villa in the south of France. Just to live comfortably without financial stress.

It's not like you can go back to work "out there." Think of the competition. Each day, we hear of more companies laying people off or going under themselves. There is an unprecedented unemployment disaster among us. And every one of these laid-off workers will be looking for work. So what can you do?

Have you considered a job where you could work from home? I'm not talking about scams ready to take advantage of you, either. I'm talking about a real work at home job. Nothing different than other employment except you work from the comfort of your own home.

Make connections with other seniors who have part-time jobs. Talk to them about their jobs and find out what types of businesses are hiring retirees. If you’re lucky, they can put in a good word for you and get your foot in the door!

Look in the classified ads of your local newspaper. There you will find listings of local job openings in just about every field. You can also find phone numbers of businesses you can call for information on available jobs for retirees.

Visit local businesses
Stop in and talk to managers at local businesses. Tell them that you’re looking for a job and ask them what types of opportunities they have available in the near future.

Search the Internet

Just type in a keyword for the kind of job you are looking for, such as, “cashier,” “waiter,” or “sales associate,” and listings for available jobs based on the criteria you select will be displayed.

Be creative and start a business of your own. That doesn’t mean going out and buying your own car factory. If you are a senior looking for jobs for retirees, here are few tips for finding a great job:

Network. Spread the word to friends, family members, and other acquaintances that you are looking for a job. Many will be able to offer suggestions and someone may know of the perfect opportunity!

Head back to work. Check in with previous employers to see if they have anything available that may interest you. Unlike the pressures of your preceding full-time position, you may be able to do a scaled-down version of your old job into a part time job for retirees. Get organized. Check with local seniors advocacy or social groups for ideas and suggestions. If you are not aware of any in your area, place a quick call to your town's city hall for a referral.
Read the paper. The classified ads in your local newspaper will offer a variety of current openings in your area. Scan them on a regular basis to get up to date information on possible opportunities.

The Internet really simplifies the process of looking for a job. Go to your favorite search engine and type in "part time job" along with the title of the position you are seeking as well as your hometown. Within the first handful of results, you will likely find a few possibilities.
Volunteer. If you are seeking a job more for the opportunity to offer a valuable service rather than for the purpose of earning money, you may want to consider volunteering. Many worthwhile organizations are in constant need of caring individuals to lend a hand. Choose a cause that holds special meaning for you and do your part to improve the world. And you never know, the volunteer position might also lead into a job opportunity.

Idle Time is Not For Me: Retirement Needs to be More Than Time for Play

You invested many years in the work force and made the decision to retire. You look forward to having time to travel, visit family and focus on your favorite hobby. That all sounds great, and most people can’t wait to have more hours for play instead of work in their day! But what happens if you discover that you feel you don’t have enough to do each day and need more structured activity?

This would be a great time for you to explore home-based business opportunities. Working from home would still provide you with flexible hours while offering you structured activity to incorporate into your day. It can also be helpful to earn some additional income to supplement your retirement pension and Social Security payments.

Job Search Basics for Seniors

The good news is that you can find a new job at virtually any age - even if your retired. The bad news is that some employers don’t yet recognize the value of workers over 50. Start by crossing them off your list (at least mentally) and focus on those who might. Of course you don’t know which is which until you actually get out there, but don’t assume no one will hire you because of your age. And keep in mind, that if you think nobody will hire you, you are probably right. To a great extent, a job search is a self-fulfilling prophecy. If you have a plan and work the plan, despite the obstacles, you are very likely to succeed when searching for a retiree job.

Before you start your search you need a plan. Here is one likely approach. Know the strengths and weaknesses that you have developed along the way and use them to your advantage. As an over 50 worker you have the advantage of a good work history. Identify the times when you were particularly successful and enjoying your work. Identify the major skills that you were applying and enjoying that made you successful. Identify the industries and markets you have been exposed to and the functional areas where you have experience (finance, sales, marketing, operations, etc.), and look particularly for unique skills or a combination of skills that you now have.

Using this skill set as a foundation, try to identify two or three scenarios that would have you jumping out of bed in the morning and would draw on the skills you have identified. In narrowing your focus, you might also look at your outside interests, the underlying values you possess, particularly those that might relate to a personal mission, other factors such as income requirements, geography, travel restrictions, etc. Also, look at trends in business and employment opportunities when searching for jobs for retirees. You want to ride the horse in the direction it’s going, an apt statement for the job search.

The next step is to do some research, test your career focus by talking with people who are already doing the job. Is it what you expect, are your skills transferable, does it look interesting, what are the disadvantages?

If you are looking for career continuation, working in the same industry in the same type of position you had most recently, you can do a traditional style job search. Contact employment agencies and search firms, surf the web and ask around to see if contacts know of opportunities.

If you want to change careers, functions or industries, you must network into opportunities. Traditional search strategies (ads and search firms) are typically career changer unfriendly because they are able to generate so many perfectly qualified candidates they don’t have to take a chance on training someone.

However you plan to search for jobs for retirees, you will need a resume or profile. There are books, articles (see ours) and web sites with virtually infinite variations on the perfect resume. Start writing your resume by assuming it won’t be perfect. Get it done and get on to the next step, which is to line up your references. You should have three to five people who know your work, are guaranteed to say wonderful things about you and who might be willing to introduce you to some of their contacts, as well as taking phone calls to vouch for you from potential employers.

I've seen a number of interesting twists in the world of part time jobs for seniors.

I once had a friend who worked doing people's taxes in the spring, as a tennis pro in the summer, took the fall off and traveled, sold calendars for the months of November and December, and taught skiing for the rest of the winter! (not being tied to a job, one winter he just took off for the southern hemisphere, and essentially taught tennis for 18 months straight without seeing the winter!)

Retiring, retired, or hoping to soon be? Would you like to hear that there are travel jobs for retirees? Do you need to keep working but want change in your life from the old job routine? For example, during cold weather you might travel to Florida for so many months. Then, as the weather there begins to really heat up, you might travel to North Carolina to the mountains. You would work a job, enjoying the cool mountain air.

There are some that own their own home. They might live in Maine in the summer in their own home, then travel south in the winter to work during the cold spell. Vacationers usually visit an area because of the beautiful views, or the exotic locations on the map. Plus, of course the weather conditions play a part too. With the snowbirders these things are important also, although they have extended reasons as they stay there longer, and have a job to do.

Availability of a good hospital or medical center, and their clubs or churches play a very important part in their decision. Since they will be living there a number of months out of the year, several factors are taken into consideration when looking at jobs for retirees.

Country Clubs/Resorts/Golf!

These are just some of the places that are using people who travel to different locations to do work for them. Do a search online by simply typing in "snowbirding" with quotes and you'll get quite a list, depending on what you are looking for. The pay is reasonable, you can travel seeing different parts of our beautiful world, and this is a wonderful way to mix business and pleasure. Some have families in areas they work out of, so what a way to go.

Finding a job is challenging for anyone in tough economic times but it’s harder if you’re over age 50 and searching for jobs for retirees. It’s illegal for employers to discriminate based on age, but any older job-seeker will tell you it happens every day.

That reality is colliding with the intent of baby boomers, most of whom hope—and need—to keep working past traditional retirement age. So, what are the best strategies for landing a job when you’re over 50?

I posed that question via an informal survey of hundreds of business people who’ve been on both sides of the hiring desk—employers and job seekers. I did it by querying my network on LinkedIn, the online social network for business people. In just a few hours, I received nearly three dozen passionate, thoughtful responses. Clearly, this is a hot-button issue in the business world.

But my respondents weren’t complaining about age discrimination. That’s accepted as a fact of life. Instead, they were pushing 50-plus job seekers to adopt smart strategies for selling themselves, networking aggressively, and generally cleaning up their act when it comes to interviewing.

Summarizing the wisdom of the crowd: You can get this done—and here’s how:

It’s not all about you. “The most important thing in getting a job after 50 is to understand why anyone would hire you,” says Scott Kane, managing director of Gray Hair Management, a career network and coaching organization for senior-level job seekers. “There’s one common reason people get hired—when the hiring manager sees the candidate as the solution to their problem.”

Kane and others say older job seekers looking for jobs for retirees too often want to talk about themselves in job interviews—narrating their resumes in too much detail, and even showing off the battle scars inflicted by unjust employers of the past.

Leave the history and attitude at the door. Instead, go into interviews prepared to listen and understand your prospective employers current situation and issues. Research the company thoroughly in advance. You’re there to find a way to match up the employer’s problems with specific areas of your experience that make you the obvious solution.

“Don’t whine about your last company, your financial situation, your health or your children,” says J.P. Stein, a career coach and human resources consultant. “The employer really doesn’t care. They are interested in earning more revenue, not in providing you with counseling.”

Technology really matters. Most baby boomers are comfortable with basic business technology—computers, the web, e-mail and mobile technology. Still, Luddites lurk in the applicant pool who want to get by on ignorance for the remainder of their working lives.

“You need to know how to use the basic programs on a computer and have an e-mail address that sounds business-like,” says Tim Driver, CEO of Retirementjobs.com.

Adds Susan Ayers Walker, who writes about technology for AARP.org: “Know how to apply the latest technology to your prospective job. If you are applying for a sales job, know about mobile technology like smart phones and Web 2.0 applications, and how to find hotspots for your laptop. If you are applying for a marketing position, then know how to use (Microsoft) Powerpoint, Excel and Publisher and know how to start and/or post to a blog.”

Make the cultural connection. Show younger hiring managers that you’re not stuck in the past. “Be brutally honest with yourself,” says executive recruiter Jim Stranberg. “Understand how you are perceived by others—the way you look, the words you use, the attitudes you hold. Clean up your act before you enter the market.”

Network creatively. If you haven’t joined LinkedIn, do so immediately. It’s free, and with a little investment of time you’ll build a useful professional network that can help with your next professional move and build your knowledge. A LinkedIn profile also is a great way to show potential employers that you’re up to speed on the web and social networking.

Rick Lopatin, a finance executive who was merged out of a job earlier this year, is a fan of LinkedIn but also focuses on non-virtual networking. He tries to attend as many industry and professional meetings and conferences as possible. He’s also tapped into some less traditional networks. “I have attended my 8th grade reunion—a great resource for network expansion!”

Better to do it right away than be brought to the place of having absolutely no option but to take the first thing that comes your way.

How about your neighbors

If you have had some contact with neighbors, they can make an excellent source of information for possible job openings. They also talk to one another a lot, so if you ask one about it, they can spread the word around the neighborhood and you're sure to get a hit quickly.

Local pals

We tend to put our net way too far at times we're looking for jobs, and if we have the time to do that, it works great, but when we need a job quick, local is probably the best place to spread the word.

So any of your friends can be sources for job opportunities, and don't fail to let them know you're looking. Almost all of this is about communication, and the more you communicate locally, the better chances at getting a job quick.

Organizational Ties

Most of us belong to some type of organization or another; whether church or what have you, and there are a lot of people you can let know that you are job hunting, and that can very quickly generate legitimate job possibilities in a hurry. Just get the word of mouth going and get out of the way.

Former managers or supervisors

Assuming you're on good terms with former bosses, they are a great source for job openings; not only for where they work, but they are always in contact with other businesses and managers that are looking for people. You never know, if you left on good terms with them, they offer you a job then and there.

This one almost always works

I've had to apply this strategy to my job searches in the past when I was getting desperate, and that's to go to a local mall and start applying.

Many times you don't have to go store to store, but can find an answer desk where any store in the mall that is looking for workers has that information available.

While that's what I would try first, I would still try individual stores if there's not much there, as many stores don't immediately post job opportunities, and so you could walk into one without any competition to battle for the job. This can be one of the fastest ways to get a job if you are getting right down to it.

Online job searches

You would have thought I would have listed this first, but with needing a job quickly, the Internet, in many cases, is much slower to respond, and you may have to go through many hoops to get something.

So because the parameters we're talking about is securing a job quickly, we can't rely on the Internet for that.

Now having said that, I would still put out my application, but I would it in conjunction with my local networks and searches. If you don't you'll find yourself getting deeper in financial trouble waiting for an online opening or response, which probably is the most competitive and time consuming out there.

Follow these numerous strategies and you should be able to get a job for retired quickly and start bringing in some much needed income.

According to a study by Cornell University:

-3 out of 4 companies would permit older employees to reduce their hours rather than take full retirement, but not many employers list retirement job option as part of their formal employment policies.

-26 percent of employers that would allow older employees to reduce their hours prior to retirement would not change the employees’ health benefits.

-40 percent would allow employees to draw pension benefits even though they’re working part-time at retirement jobs.

Forty may be the new fifty but not if you are job searching. We have laws to protect us from age discrimination in the workplace but in reality discrimination occurs daily. Don't be discouraged if you are looking for jobs for retirees. You can improve your chances of breaking through the age barrier and landing a fulfilling job by following these tips.

Give your resume a facelift
The purpose of a resume is to get you a job right? Wrong. All a well-written resume will do is get you in the door for an interview. Then it's up to you to convince the company you are the best candidate for the job.

Does your resume look weathered? Has it grown to three or four pages over time? Do you still list your first job after high school graduation? Are you displaying the date you received your college degree? Freshen your resume up by condensing your background. Limit your job history to the past 10 years and eliminate dates that reveal your age. Worried about losing important information? Consider summarizing the relevant pieces of your previous work history into a few short paragraphs. A lighter, more updated look should increase your chances of receiving interviews.

Some companies still handle resumes the old fashion way. They read them. However, many organizations are turning to resume management systems, which require a different type of resume. Action words, such as "managed" or "designed" used to be in vogue. Today it's more important to use nouns, since many employers are searching their databases using key words.

Looks matter
Understandably you want people to accept you for who you are but in our culture looks matter. There are many things you can do to update your appearance without taking drastic measures.
Start with your wardrobe. Dressing for interviews can be confusing in this day of business casual. Half the people in the office are wearing jeans while the other half are in Dockers. Neither of these clothing items are appropriate for an interview. This is your opportunity to make a good first impression. It's better to be a bit overdressed than to dress too casually.
If your suits still have shoulder pads then it's time to make a trip to the mall. If you can't afford to buy a new outfit, then consider removing the shoulder pads and purchasing a few accessories to freshen up your wardrobe.

When's the last time you had your hair professionally styled? If you can't recall the date, call for an appointment today. While there, consider throwing in a few highlights to cover some of those gray hairs. You can always go back to your original look once you've landed the job.
Be prepared

It used to be enough to walk into an interview prepared to discuss the company's latest product or marketing strategy. Today you have to be prepared to meet with someone who may be half your age.

Don't assume the person interviewing you isn't the decision-maker. In some companies, like technology-based organizations, you may very well be speaking with one of the founding partners. When responding to interview questions, watch your tone. Most organizations are looking for enthusiastic and energetic employees, regardless of age.

Network
Passive job searching didn't work when you were twenty so what makes you think it will work now? Get out of the house and start connecting. Attend conferences, association meetings and become visible. Don't just show up. Become involved. Offer to lead a committee or recruit volunteers for a nonprofit. You never know whom you might impress in the process.

Don't assume your contacts would have called you if they were interested in offering assistance. It doesn't work that way. Be proactive. Let everyone know that you are searching for a new job opportunity and ask them for the names of others who they think can assist you.

That makes the whole thing a little overwhelming, especially for those just hearing of it, and possibly those that have read an article, or seen a video or two on the subject.

I'm here to tell you that it's not all that complicated to use the law of attraction effectively, and I'll tell you how to get it working in your life, in a practical way that virtually anyone can apply. Before I begin though, the very first step is to make sure your mind and body is prepared to put your focus and energy into what you want to manifest into your life using the law of attraction.

In short, drink plenty of water! The average person needs 8oz of water each day for their body and brain to function optimally. Don't think it's all that important, or irrelevant to the law of attraction? Do a google search on "benefits of water" and I'm sure you'll be a believer :-)

Okay, on with the tips...

#1 - Know Your Goal And Define It

You can't effectively attract something into your life if you don't know exactly what it is you want. Take the time to write down on a sheet of paper exactly what your desire is, and what you want to attract specifically. Try to keep any negativity out of it (e.g. what not to put: "I want to quit this stupid job and stop getting underpaid"... change it to: "I want to manifest a higher paying job doing X").

It also helps to know WHY you want to achieve a certain goal. Sometimes when doing so, you realize you don't really want what you thought you wanted, what you wanted the benefit of what that would bring.

#2 - Visualize Daily

When I say visualize, I mean taking time out of your day (preferably 10-30 minutes) to sit down quietly and visualize yourself in the third person (as if you are watching a movie of yourself), in the situation you want to be in-in other words, you having already achieved your goal.

Make the visualization as accurate as possible, and try to feel the emotions you would be feeling when you do finally use the law of attraction to manifest what you want. Be sure to avoid ANY negativity during this visualization session.

#3 - Become Obsessed With Positive Thinking

Think of negative thoughts and emotions as some kind of cancer invading your body, and the positive thought/emotion counterparts as the cure for that cancer. Rid any kind of negative thinking and regularly feed yourself with positive statements about your goal-even if they are not yet true. While that is a drastic way of thinking of negative thoughts and emotions, they are in fact cancerous to what you want to achieve.

For example, if your goal is to weigh 130 lbs and you currently weigh 230 lbs-try your best not to ever allow yourself to think, feel, and especially tell yourself things such as "I'm fat", or "I'm ugly", or "I'm too big to lose any weight". While you may think it does no harm, your subconscious mind latches onto statements and causes you to move in that direction.

This is especially true for statements you feed yourself that trigger emotional effects. Unfortunately, when it comes to telling yourself things, negative thoughts leave a much bigger emotional imprint than positive statements you give yourself. So make an effort to saturate your mind with positive thoughts and statements that will force you to believe what you are telling yourself.

#4 - Find A Mentor

If you don't know anyone who has achieved your goal, or you do but don't care to meet them personally, find someone on the internet who has genuinely achieved your goal and doesn't mind sharing their experience with others through their website or blog. Read their website articles and allow them to be your mentor, whether they know it or not.

Who best to follow than someone who has been in your shoes and used the law of attraction successfully in their life? You must, however, be very careful as there are a lot of phonies online. Make sure that person really has achieved their goal, and that you believe the advice they are telling you to be true.

#5 - Put Your Thoughts AND Emotions Into Your Goal

And lastly, the most popular advice given from any law of attraction career resource-think about what you want! Constantly think about your goal positively, and focus on it whenever you can. Be sure to leave out any negativity, and remember to rid any "I can't" thoughts from yourself. Sometimes you have a "can-do" attitude, but feelings and fears begin to haunt you making you worried that you'll never achieve your goal. There are many benefits to working from home. Working from home gives you the freedom to work when you want. It eliminates commute time. To some extent, office politics become obsolete. This type of arrangement comes as close to a true meritocracy as possible. You produce work, and either it is good or it is not. You will be judged based upon the quality of your work alone.

If you have small children, working from home gives you a lot of flexibility in the way of being there for your kids. Work early in the morning and late at night when your children are asleep. If they attend a preschool of some sort, there is a niche of time during the day during which you can also get some work done. When your children need you, you can and will be there for them.

If you find that you need more time during the day, hire a babysitter to keep an eye on your kids. Don't try to work and watch your kids at the same time. In attempting to do so, both your work and your children will suffer. Work only when you can completely focus on work, and watch your children only when you can focus entirely on them. Do's:

- Study the opportunities available in the field you are interested in. You will find good resources on the Internet about home-based careers.

- Use the Internet to learn about frauds and how to avoid them. You can use keywords like "Common Scams", "Tips to avoid scams" to come up with good results.

- Consider your own interests and passions and choose your home-based business accordingly. Remember, you do better if you like what you do. You are more efficient if your work interests you.

- Contact people who have been working in the same domain you plan to enter. Their experience will help you get a feel of what you will be doing. Talk to them about the problems they faced in the initial stages. That will help you solve similar problems easily and deal with new challenges in a positive manner.

- If you need training before starting out on your home-based career, it is better to do it quickly and keep yourself abreast of the latest developments.

- Check if your personality matches the profile of people who choose home-based careers. You need to be self-motivated and not someone who needs other people to push them to get things done. - Don't pay attention to the dozens of e-mails you will get every day, pushing get-rich-quick schemes.

- Don't be discouraged by the costs involved in working at home. Consider marketing costs, health insurance, and expenditure on equipment and self-employment taxes as part of the deal.

When you first start out trying to use the law of attraction to change your life or to experience more of what you want, there will probably be a long list of things that you would like to attract. Try to keep it simple at first, though. You don't want to try to change every aspect of your life all at once. Focusing in on one particular goal or one area of your life is much more beneficial, especially if you have not used the law of attraction for very long.

When you try to attract the new car, job, spouse, home, etc., all at once, you are just setting yourself up for disappointment and you will probably give up on using the law of attraction way too early. When you can choose one particular area of your life, your focus on that one thing will be much greater and your potential to attract what you want will also be greater.

LET EVERYTHING "FALL" INTO PLACE...

Let's say you decide to focus on a new job where you are happier and make more money. Over time, you will be able to acquire the car and the house once you get this job. And when you feel happier about yourself, you will be seen as more attractive by other people so you will have a much easier time trying to attract a relationship partner. Do you see how everything can fall into place when you focus on just one area of your life?

Take the time to figure out what area you want to improve on most in your life. Use the law of attraction and remember to be patient. You can create a snowball effect, but patience is key, And if you do, you just might experience everything falling into place!

The phrase Law of Attraction, although used widely by New Thought writers, has a variety of definitions. Turn-of-the-century references conceptualized the law of attraction as relating to physical structure and to how matter develops. A more modern consensus among New Thought thinkers is that the Law of Attraction says people's thoughts (both conscious and unconscious) dictate the reality of their lives, whether or not they're aware of it. Essentially "if you really want something and truly believe it's possible, you'll get it", but putting a lot of attention and thought onto something you don't want means you'll probably get that too.

Widespread popular interest for the law of attraction reached its peak after the release of the The Secret, a 2006 cinematic release. After the film's release, the book, Law of Attraction: The Basics of the Teachings of Abraham, by Esther Hicks and Jerry Hicks made the New York Times Best Sellers list, drawing more attention and interest to this topic. Prior to this, the couple had been in the field since the '80s. In 2007, Oprah Winfrey began a series of interviews during her talk show on the law of attraction. 1. The Theory of Kaizen and No Resistance

The reason kaizen works is because of the way your brain works. Big changes are intimidating, and trigger the flight or fight response. This leads to immense resistance to making any large change. You can see this process at work in New Year's resolutions. However when you decide to make one tiny little change, the smallest change possible, this doesn't trigger the flight or fight response.

One way I've used the philosophy of kaizen in my own life is to listen to law of attraction audio. I purchased by Proctor's The 11 forgotten laws MP3 audio program, and have been listening to it every day. This takes just 10 minutes, usually while I'm getting dressed for the day, or falling asleep at night. This isn't a huge change to make in my life, but it's had an amazing effect.

For the first time I've learned how to really "think" (the way Bob Proctor recommends), with less stress and with enhanced productivity. Just 10 minutes a day have made all the difference in my life.

3. Relax and Allow: Go With the Flow

When you are making tiny changes, you can relax and go with the flow of your life.

You longer feel that you have to force anything. You are floating along the river of your life effortlessly, and the law of attraction goes to work for you and brings you what you want, simply because you don't resist. You allow changes into your life. This becomes exciting and lots of fun.

There are so many directions you could go in when working from home. The hardest part is choosing the best one for you. Get clear about what you don't want to do. Hate phone work? Make a note of that. In fact, make a list of every single thing that you don't want to do in a job/business. Then write a vision of what you truly want. Here is a very simple way to decide on a direction if you are looking for a work at home job or business.

What do you enjoy doing? Make a list of every single thing you enjoy, or have an interest in.
What are you good at? Make another list of every single talent or ability you have, or have done in previous jobs. Not just regular "jobs" either, look at the things you do for your family, friends, hobbies, etc.

Play the match game. Can any of your items from List #1 be combined with an item from List #2 and made into a home business? For example if you love to clean, and you're good at organizing, you could become a professional organizer or start a cleaning business. If you love writing, you could write articles and eBooks about how to get organized. (or any topic from List #1 or #2)

Do you want to be your own boss or work for someone else? If you want to work for someone else, start researching jobs that would match the items from your lists. If you want to work for yourself, start researching possible home business options, either with an existing company, or forming your own.

You know where you want to end up, now you need to think about the steps that will get you there. Just take it a step at a time, don't get overwhelmed.

It's going to take time to fully realize your vision of working at home. If you're really strapped for cash, consider taking on a part-time job outside the home while you build your work at home job or business. That will relieve the pressure of needing to "create an income right now!" Then you can take your time and build your dream.

While there are some great companies and programs out there, it's important to evaluate your needs and desires in a home based career. I see too many people jumping into the first opportunity they see, simply because it promises great income. Money is definitely a major part of our reason for working, but is it the most important? You need to choose the option that will serve all of your needs, not just the financial ones.

How do you know which option is best for you? Consider the typical qualities of telecommuting jobs, home business opportunities and home businesses started from scratch:

Telecommuting Jobs
Pros - With jobs you will usually have less responsibility than a home business, plus a steady paycheck and a structured work schedule. If you are very efficient, organized and "production-oriented", this could be good for you.

Cons - You will have less flexibility and freedom than you would with a home business. You will not be encouraged to "do it your way" -- you will instead need to follow your employer's instructions. Your workload is not guaranteed. Business can slow down and you'll have no work to do, which means no income. If you are very creative and free-spirited, and you want to earn a big income, a job might not be right for you.

Home Business Opportunities
Pros - More flexibility and freedom than a job, more opportunity for larger income, less chance for business to slow down benefit from being part of a team of like-minded people that support you and help you to grow your business. No need to create your own products and marketing materials, as the company provides them for you.

Cons - Less flexibility and freedom than starting your own business, as the company may have restrictions on how you run your business, how you can promote, etc. You may have sales quotas you need to meet, or other limitations. Choosing a company that has been around for a long time may result in oversaturation of the market, while choosing a newer company may result in instability or the company going out of business.

Your Own Company
Pros - Complete freedom and flexibility in the products you create or services you offer, as well as the ways in which you choose to market. No quotas to meet, build it big or keep it small. Set your own schedule and determine your own income. Be as creative as you wish.

Cons - Great responsibility. You are the President, CEO, General Manager, Sales Director, Marketing Manager, Production Manager, Comptroller, Personnel Director and everything else for your company. No one else is there to help or cheer you on.

There are certainly exceptions to the qualities listed above. Perhaps you can find a great telecommuting job that allows you complete flexibility and creative work. Maybe some of the "cons" I listed above would actually be considered "pros" to you, or vice versa.

If you've just begun your search for a work at home job, you probably have a concept of what working from home is like. You probably imagine yourself waking up whenever you want, sliding your feet into fuzzy slippers and shuffling to the kitchen to get some coffee, then shuffling along to your office to put in another wonderful day at work, then later going to the mailbox to pick up your weekly paycheck of several thousand dollars. I hate to burst your bubble; it doesn't always work that way.

The truth is, working at home is usually a lot harder than working in an office somewhere. Scammers and hyped-up business opportunity ads have given us the belief that working at home is oh-so-easy. We just relax on a tropical beach, and then go collect our paychecks. I'm sure you've seen ads like that.

Here are some things you should consider before jumping into a work at home job:
If you want to work for an employer as a telecommuter, be prepared to earn less than you would at a job outside the home. A job that pays $11.00 an hour in the regular workforce might pay $7 or $8 an hour at home. There are exceptions of course. Some jobs, like virtual assisting, web design and graphics, medical transcription and coding and other professional jobs will probably pay more than a data entry or customer service job. Many work at home jobs don't pay hourly either. For data entry work, you might get paid per piece, and for telephone jobs you might get paid per "talk minute" (only those minutes you are actually on the phone with a customer.)

The majority of home based careers do not provide benefits like health insurance or life insurance. Again, there are exceptions.

There are companies that will hire you as an actual "employee" and they will take taxes out of your pay. But some will only hire you as an "independent contractor," and you are responsible for paying your own taxes.

If you are hired as an independent contractor, it's important to understand that your employer is not obligated to provide any work for you. Most companies have busy seasons and slow seasons. During a busy season, you might be working 40-50 hours a week, and then the slow season arrives and suddenly you're fighting to get even 10 hours of work per week. If your income is especially important to your household, definitely keep that in mind. However, many people choose to work more than one job at a time.

If you are the type of person who usually needs a kick in the rear to get moving, working at home will be very hard on you. You have to be extremely disciplined to sit down at the computer, log in and work each day. There are so many distractions in the home that will pull you away from work if you let them.

Working at home can be lonely. If you thrive on social interaction, working alone can be difficult to adjust to. However, you can ease this by spending time with friends frequently, or joining some online groups to chat with people.

Some employers require you to work a specific set schedule, while others might be more flexible, allowing you to choose your own hours. Give some thought to which type of schedule would work best for you. When I first decided to work at home, I made the mistake of choosing a job that had a rigid schedule, and I hated it! I had forgotten that that was one of the things I disliked about working outside the home - living by someone else's schedule.

So many mothers want to work at home so they can raise their own children, rather than sending them to a daycare. It depends greatly on the ages of your children and what type of work you are doing at home. If you work a telephone job, most employers will require a very quiet background, which is impossible if you have small children. You also can't stop working every few minutes to entertain the kids. There are certainly things you can do to make it easier, like have a neighborhood teenager come in for a few hours to watch your children while you work, or work only when your spouse is home and can keep an eye on the kids.

Right now you're probably thinking, "I don't care what type of work I do, as long as it brings in a paycheck." Like I said, you will need to be extremely self-motivated and self-disciplined to work at home, and your job will be a lot easier if you like what you do! Think about the type of person you are, and the type of work that suits you best. Are you creative and free-spirited, or nose-to-the-grindstone efficient? Give some thought to your "vision" of working at home, and try to find a job (or business) that will complement that.

When some people decide they want to "work at home," they don't want a regular J-O-B at all. What they want is the freedom to set their own schedule and do work they love. It's certainly possible to find those qualities in a job, but it can be difficult. If this describes you, consider starting your own business instead, focusing on your existing talents and abilities. If you don't know much about business but have an interest, start learning! There are so many great resources on the internet today. Write this sentence along the top of the page: I want to work at home because. and then write down as many endings to that sentence as you can think of. If most of your answers have to do with freedom and passionate, fulfilling work, a "job" might not be the best thing for you.

Regardless of what type of work you decide on, understand that working at home can be difficult and challenging. But for most of us who do it, it is also wonderful. I wouldn't trade it for anything! And once you find the right home based career, you will probably feel the same.

Also, make sure to include the flexibility of taking time off whenever needed, without a lottery list! When the holidays arrive everyone is ready for a break, and you should take full advantage of it. A stress-free Holiday Season with your family will do wonders for your productivity. Just make sure to make all of the necessary arrangements on your sites stating you will be unavailable for a short period of time.

I did have a lot of work and emails waiting for me after the holidays were over...but I didn't let it overwhelm me. I thoroughly enjoyed my time off and as a result, I was able to forge ahead with my business with a new perspective and with new motivation. Along with that came new goals for the New Year.

DENVER -- Let's face it. It can be a challenge for moms to juggle between time at the office and time at home. Now, more and more moms are choosing to stay at home, and make some extra cash at the same time.

Alpine Access is one of the agencies in the Denver metro area that moms are going to for help.

"I think a lot of people are looking to escape that rat race," said Alpine Access CEO Chris Carrington. The agency helps find moms jobs where they can work right from the comfort of their own home. In fact, about 80 percent of Alpine's employees are women like Kathi Matherson.

"I don't want to deal with the commute, the stress. All the stresses that comes with leaving home to work, is not something I look forward to," said Matherson.
